            Deşt-i Kıpçak Balbalları

There remained several stone statues in Eastern Europe from the Cumans, who occupied the region in the late Medieval. These statues represent a more sophisticated artistic level compared to their Asian counterparts. Scientists used to believe that these statues, known as balbals, and erected on graves, had symbolized enemies killed by the dead person. Late researches showed that Cuman balbals seem to have some other religious, socio-economical, etc. meanings.<
