Özet
Ekseri çalışmaları tarih alanında olmakla birlikte en hafif tabiriyle bir sosyal bilimler dehası olan Mehmed Fuad Köprülü, Türk folkloru ve halk edebiyatı alanında, disiplinlerarası sosyal bilimler idrak ve icrası ile birçok önemli çalışmaya imza atmıştır. Yaşadığı devrin her türlü kaynak ve imkânına sahip olması kendisinin en büyük şansı olmuş ve bu şans ortaya birçoğu halen daha aşılamamış abidevî eserler çıkarmıştır. M.F. Köprülü’nün halk edebiyatı çalışmalarından önce bu alana olan algısını ve bakış açısını iki dönemde irdelemek mümkündür. İlkinde, âlim bu sahaya tenkidâne ve kısmen önyargılı durmuş akabinde devrin şartları da göz önünde tutulacak olunursa halk edebiyatına ve bu edebiyatın teorik olarak işlendiği halk bilimine yakın durmuştur. M.F. Köprülü, halk edebiyatı sahasında yer alan söze ve anlatıya dayalı neredeyse tüm türler üzerinde çalışmalarda bulunmuş ancak bunu yaparken kuru bir metin neşrinden uzak durarak onları tarih, sosyoloji, iktisat, siyaset zeminlerinde anlamaya ve değerlendirmeye gayret etmiştir. Bu çalışmada M.F. Köprülü’nün halk edebiyatına bakışı dönemsel olarak ele alındıktan sonra halk edebiyatı devir ve türleri kronolojik sıra ve izahatla verilmeye çalışılacak, son olarak ise araştırıcının anlayış ve uygulama temelinde halk bilimi algısı değerlendirilecektir.

Abstract
Mehmed Fuad Köprülü, genius in social sciences in terms of modest assessments, carried out so many impormant studies in the branch of Turkish folklore and folk literature within a interdisciplinar social scientific comprehension and execution, as well as most of his studies are in history. His greatest chance is the fortune that he has the every source and possibility in the era he lived and this fortune created the monumental works which could not been gone beyond yet. Before speaking of his studies on folk literature, it is possible to scrutinize his perception on this branch and point of view in two periods. In the first one, his point of view was critical and partially prejudicious. After this period, within the conditions of the era at issue, he standed closer to folk literature and folklore, in which folk literature is processed theorical. M. F. Köprülü dwelled on almost all the types which rests on wordy and narration in folk literature but while studying on these topics he avoided himself from just publishing texts and he tried to understand and evaluate the texts within the branches of history, sociology, economy, politics. In this study, first of all M. F. Köprülü’s point of view about the folk literature will be examined in terms of periods and then tried to explain the periods and types of folk literature by turns and lastly researcher’s folklore perception evaluated in the base of his understanding and application.<
