Abstract
The Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in the ex-Soviet Area
The Russian Orthodox Church, being in the centre of the Russian identity in the pre-Soviet period, claims today the same mission, and almost all political formations in the country supports this view. This is also related to the political role given to the Church. But some global processes deeply influencing also Russian society, makes it difficult nowadays for the Church to carry out its historical role.<
