Abstract
The Socioeconomic Status of Armenians in Bursa during the Ottoman Empire
The aim of this study give information on the socio-economic status of the Armenians which lived in and around Bursa during the Ottoman Empire. In this context, we will try to give information with noting that Armenian political, social and cultural life of Muslims in inter-ethnic relations and interactions. In this context, with this article we will try to determined that when, how, and for what purposes Armenians come to region of Bursa. In the first stage the date of the coming of the Armenians to the around Bursa and their socio-cultural conditions of the period will be examined. Later, the relationship between the Armenians of Bursa with other ethnic groups and information about their educational institutions will be provided shortly. Then the Armenians with other non-Muslims relations in and around Bursa particularly in the area of political and economic relations will be analyzed. During the preparation of the study, in first step literature on the subject will be scanning and then including the Bursa Court Registries, archival records, Armenian entries and church records shall be prevail. Later key resources of the providing information on the status of the Armenians in The Ottoman Empire will be examined. In particular the reports, feedbacks and records of travelers about life of here will be utilized. In this study we will also utilized from Master and PhD theses which prepared on Bursa and vicinity and the available data on the two communities in that study.<
