Abstract

Crimean Forces in the Wars Between the Ottoman Empire and Poland Under the Rule of Selim Giray I (1671-1704)
As the Crimean Khan for 22 years and 7 months between the years 1671-1704, Selim Giray ’s first period between the years 1671-1677 clashed with a period of breakdown in relationships and war between Ottoman Empire and Poland primarily because of question of Kozak and secondarily sovereignity struggle in Eflak-Boğdan. Getting Poland to accept its sovereignity in Podolia and Ukraina including Kamanice fortress with Bucas 1672 and İzvance(Zurowno) 1676 Treaties, a struggling period between Ottoman Empire and Poland ,which would last until Karlofca Treaty in 1699, started. During this struggling period, thanks to Crimean Khan Selim Giray’s efforts Sobieski, the king of Poland, was given neither the chance to take back Kamanice fortress and the lands in Podolia, nor the pleasure of getting the upper hand against Turks except for defeats of Hotin 1673 and Vienna 1683 until his death.<
