North of Black Sea According to European Travellers in the Era of Mongolıan
As the Great Mongol invasion reached the shores of Adriatic, European Christian world was terrified and they in-tended to take some precautions. Some legations, which were designated by popes, went to Kara Kurum (capital of Mongolia) from Black Sea’s North shores for gaining Mongolians to their own political benefits. Two of them are Carpini and Rubruk. Those two Fransiscan ambassadors written down their geographical, historical, social and cultural observation as a travel book. In our study we examined the informations about the North of Black Sea in those two ambassador’s travel books by crossreferancing other sources.<
