Abstract
HISTORICAL ROOTS AND DIASPORIC IMPLICATIONS OF THE SOCIO-POLITICAL CONFLICTS IN THE CAUCASUS: CASE OF CIRCASSIANS (ADYGHES)
Circassians are an autochthonous people of the Caucasus. This article aims to present an examination of the socio-political history of the Circassians both in the homeland and the diaspora since earliest times until today. Studying the socio-political history of the Circassians would make a certain contribution to the understanding and solution of the problems and conflicts in the Caucasus which is one of the lesser studied areas in the world history and international relations. Circassians have played a particular role in the formation of the current ethnic, historical and political fabric of the Caucasus and, to a lesser extent, their diaspora countries.
