Abstract
Common Features in Crimean and Kazan Tatar Religious Songs
This essay deals with the tradition of ilahi (religious songs) and mevlid (Turkish poems written to tell about the birth of Prophet Muhammed) and searches for common features in Crimean and Kazan Tatar religious songs. This literary genre, which is common throughout the Turkic world, became influential also in everyday life via Sufism, and, by feeding from various sources, continued its existence in a wide area from die Balkans to Central Asia.<
