Abstract
A Veteran Performer of the Turkish Folk Music: Emin Aldemir
Many compilation studies have been carried out from the past to the present in order to convey the social values and cultural codes specific to Anatolian geography to the present day through the performance of Turkish folk music. Many artists have voluntarily participated in these compilation works aiming to exhibit and protect the common products of Anatolian folk culture. One of these artists is Emin Aldemir. Aldemir has provided important services to Turkish folk music by taking part in the imprints of folk song sheet music. Emin Aldemir, who served as a member of the Ankara Radyosu Yurttan Sesler Topluluğu for many years, also improved himself in notation. This study is important in terms of contributing to the few studies in the literature on the compilation activities in Turkish folk music and being the first of its kind in Turkey. In addition, the aim of the study is to reveal the compiler, artist, performer and educator identity of Emin Aldemir. The study was structured in line with the qualitative method. It was concluded that Emin Aldemir contributed many folk songs to TFM repertoire with his compilation works and also guided some folk music artists with his identity as a performer and educator.
