Turkish folk literature products are an important source for the determination of cultural qualities. Examining this resource in different contexts helps to better understand our cultural development. In this study, Oguz Kagan Epic and Dede Korkut Stories, which are important documents for Turkish history and culture, will be read through Ibn Haldun's theory of umran. The theory of Umran includes views on how a community turned into a nation and how the elements of sovereignty developed and ended. In the study, the texts were examined through the stages that Haldun's umran will go through. As a result of the study, it has been seen that both the Oguz Kagan epic and the Dede Korkut texts comply with the general rules laid down by Haldun.
