Abstract


Physical Structure of the Town Develi in The Seljukid Age
Studies up to date are mostly based on listing of architectural structures and identifying their use in time. However, there is no study present on either pre Turkish or post Turkish era spatial setup of the town. In this article, given the absence of study of the particular subject, spatial setup of the town is examined. The article consists of two main parts. In the first part, in order to have a sound understanding of municipal setup in the era, primary sources of it’s time that includes information on the subject has been gathered together. In this part of the study, Seljuk era sources are used alongside Ottoman Era land ownership census and compendium books have been evaluated. Under the light of the gathered information, architectural structures which compose the municipal fabric of the town. In the second part, sources from both Seljuk era and modern times are evaluated and positions of architectural artifacts found in excavation efforts.
