Abstract
Missionary Activities In Kocaeli In 19. Century
District of Kocaeli, as of its geographical position, consistently has maintained feature of becoming one of the most important districts of Ottoman Empire. In 19. Century, states who aims missionary effected Kocaeli as with many regions of the Ottoman Empire.
Western states which realized missionary activities were good political propaganda, greatly increased these activities in the Ottoman Empire especially in 19. century. Many missionaries who were citizens of the United States and Britain who were the leading countries in this activity made activities in District of Kocaeli as in the other ottoman lands. In this way, the Armenian and Greek Ottoman citizens who lived like brothers for centuries in Kocaeli worked to take under the effects.
