Abstract


GEVHERÎ'S POETRY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE TRADITION OF DIVAN LITERATURE
Gevherî, in the XVII. century, the writer is one of the Turkish folk poets. It is predicted that the poet, whose real name was determined as Mehmed, was from Istanbul. There is also a contradiction in terms of Gevherî's birth and death dates. However, his XVII. It is certain that he was a valuable poet among the Turkish folk poets of the 17th century who sang and wrote poems in syllabic and aruz measures. Gevherî's poetry overlaps with the tradition of divan poetry. Gevherî's poems are not only written in aruz meter; even their running shows parallelism with the tradition of divan poetry. In his poem, Gevherî talked about the lover he had a crush on and he handled the concept of love. The love in question speaks to “you” from time to time, but mostly to “me”. This reflects one of the basic building blocks of the divan poetry tradition. Gevherî's poetry is in relation with divan poetry in terms of both form and content. This relationship, although Gevherî is a folk poet; It shows how much he was fed from the tradition of divan poetry. In this direction; Gevherî's Divan has been carefully and completely scanned from beginning to end; the sample texts identified are given with their explanations and their relation to divan poetry. Thus; in the example of Gevherî, the effect of divan poetry on Turkish folk poetry and the scope of Gevherî poetry have been revealed.
