Abstract

Some Findings About the Foundation Process of the Republic and Political Life in Turkey in the Hungarian Sources (1920-1938)
The Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened under the extraordinary conditions of the National Struggle. With the opening of the parliament, the foundations of a new Turkish state were laid in Anatolia. Hungarians closely followed the National Struggle against the occupied states of Anatolia and supported the National Struggle. The success of the National Struggle, the signing of the Lausanne Peace Treaty and the proclamation of the Republic were welcomed by the Hungarian people and the Hungarian Parliament. The developments in the domestic politics of the young Turkish Republic and the important laws enacted by the Parliament in the 1920s continued to attract the attention of Hungarians. The main theme of this study, according to Hungarian sources, is the opening process of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the important developments in Turkish political life in the first years of the Republic. In addition, according to Hungarian sources, the conditions of the period when the Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened and the findings about Ankara, the center of the National Struggle, were also included. Thus, it is aimed to reach information about the conditions under which the parliament was opened from the perspective of the Hungarians. However, in the 1930s reports of the Hungarian ambassadors who served in Turkey during the Atatürk period, the TBMM, the People's Party and the political developments in Turkey were frequently mentioned. While these reports are talking about the structure and functioning of the TBMM, they are important because they offer a different perspective on the political life in Turkey from the eyes of foreign diplomats.
