Abstract

Modality in Saltuk-nâme
The modal is a form of expression that reflects the verb's action, occurrence, and behavior. It is a semantic category that expresses the speaker’s mental state, feelings, intentions and wishes. The modal reflects an objective attitude, and the modality reflects a subjective perspective. Modality, defined as the grammaticalization of the speaker's attitudes and views in a semantic category against the utterance produced by himself, is a particular category in the description of the utterance subject. The relationship between a spaker and his/her utterance is explored through modality. Modality; can be marked by morpheme, lexeme, syntax, and emphasis. Saltuk-nâme is an important work written in the 15th century and on which many studies have been made.
