Abstract
Revisiting Armenian Epigraphic Works of the 19th Century within the Context of Epigraphic Works in Historiography
In this study historically the second half of the 19. Century, Western Armenian tombstones will be examined. In this sense, the studies conducted on the subject in the first place epigraphy in Turkey will take place shortly. Later, especially related to the Armenian-what is the level of epigraphic study in Turkey and will be shortly discussed the problems in this area. The article will also focus on the regions in which Armenian gravestones are concentrated in our country. In the article, Ankara, Mardin, Aydın, Afyonkarahisar etc. Some examples of Armenian tombstones that have been identified in places will be presented. The study will also provide information on how these stones should be interpreted. Based on Armenian gravestones, XIX. In the second half of the century, the population, religious structure, cultural situation and demographic structure of the Armenian community will also be mentioned. Within the scope of the study, it will also be evaluated how the information contained here should be interpreted by making use of Armenian tombstones.
