Abstract


Novinkovsk Kurgans and the of Bulgarian Tribes to Middle Volga Region
The history from the end of VII to the beginning of X. centuries of the Bulgarian tribes which came into the domination of Khazar khanate after the collapse of the Great Bulgarian Empire and which was one of the most important historical figures of Eastern Europe has not been adequately clarified because of lack of written sources. Therefore, the main sources regarding history of Bulgarian tribes in this process are archaeological remains. In this sense, the most important data for the clarification of their history of becoming Turkish process of Volga Bulgarian state established in Middle Volga in the X century and Bulgarian tribes’s coming to this place has been derived from their cemeteries left by them. The cemeteries of the Kurgan Novinkovsk, which was located in the southern boundary of the Autonomous Republic of Tataristan of Russian Federation and which was identified in the regions of Samara and Ulyanovsk, are the oldest archaeological remains of Bulgarian tribes which symbolize their entrance to Middle Volga region. The purpose of this article is to clarify the culture of early period Bulgarians and the evidence of their entrance to Middle Volga region not later than the end of VII century with the materials obtained from Novinkovsk Kurgans.<
