Pipeline Geopolitics in Black Sea Region
In our time it is almost impossible to make an assessment of the Black Sea geopolitics without making a reference to energy politics. In this context, energy politics not only involve technical issues but also an analytical tool in social sciences. Particularly pipeline geopolitics stands out as a separate dimension in geopolitical assessments. The Black Sea region is a clear example about the specific way that pipeline geopolitics is shaped through particular projects. In the initial years of the twenty first century, various pipeline projects have been considered with regard to the Black Sea region. Some of these have been implemented while others vanished after having sporadic influence over regional policies. This article aims to make an assessment of the current Black Sea geopolitics with reference to pipeline projects.
