Abstract


FIGURES OF THE CRIMEA’S SYMBOL: BETWEEN REALITY AND FICTION ALIM AZAMATOGLU
The Turkish nation who raised countless heroes in every period of its history, always keeps alive of these heroic values. In the oral culture of heroism of the long-established Crimean Tatar Turkish, there are many concepts like valor, bravery, heroic values in numerous legends and epics which show many figures representing the national character. More recently, within the Crimean Tatar Turks in the life of the second half of 19th century, a hero emerged named Alim Azamatoglu. Alim, by time, had a place in the legendary and historical memory and gained a reputation as national hero. This hero, in addition to his courage, protected the powerless and gained a great reputation for his looking out for his people. Our aim is to introduce this national hero who lived a particular historical period and became legendary character whose memory lives until today.<
