Abstract

THE ROLE OF UNITED NATONS IN GLOBAL SECURITY AND FACILITIES IN BLACK SEA AREA IN THE CONTEXT OF ENVIROMENTAL SECURITY
Throughout history, the effort to protect and sustain international peace and order through different methods has been the first priority global norm. For this purpose, many international treaties have been signed and many regional and global alliances have been formed. However, these efforts have been relatively unsuccessful. Prioritization by countries of their national interests over global peace has resulted in the failure of all peace and security ideals. In this respect, the UN became the most comprehensive structure for the ideal of peace and security in history. However, there are some important problems that are hard to resolve regarding UN activities: To what extent can this giant organization provide international security and peace? Does the UN function based on objective criteria or in the interests of powerful members? What will be the future of the UN? Emerging threats in the deepening and widening process of security have increased the workload as well as global responsibilities of the organization. This has resulted in increased discussions about the need for reforms in the UN. Russian offensive activities in the Black Sea Region resulted in the focusing of international attention on this region. The 2008 Russian-Georgian war and the 2014 Ukrainian crisis have been the most important security developments in the Black Sea Region. Because of these events, UN interest and activities in the Black Sea region have increased. The UN role for the future of the region remains a question-mark for now. However, emerging security issues such as environment security in the Black Sea Region should be one of the priorities of the UN because this region is one of the most unprotected areas against environmental threats. It is not easy to forecast the future attitude of the UN, which stays behind the scenes on the issue of environmental protection. <
