Abstract
The First Print Machine, Newspaper and Provincial Yearbook in the Eastern Black Sea Region
In accordance with a decision by the Ottoman government in 1864, provincial administrations were ordered to publish official nevvspaper and provincial yearbooks. The government helped the provincial centres by sending print machines. The first machine in Anatolia was sent to Trabzon in 1865. This city became the second after Erzurum in publishing its newspaper in 1869, and shared the first rank together with Konya, Kastamonu, Bursa and Diyarbakır in publishing the first yearbook.<
